Jónsi - 2011 - We Bought A Zoo

Jónsi is from Iceland. During the long, cold, dark winters he spends much time at his home. He has talent and time to develop it. So he comes up with these sounds.
Playful sounds, childish sounds, sounds of joy. Yet they have this slight little shadow of sadness, an infinite, deep, old sadness. As if longing for something.

His solo effort doesn't sound much different from a Sigur Rós record, which isn`t a bad thing. I could listen to them for hours on end (in fact, I have...).

I'd rather have him singing in Icelandic tha in english. It´s far mor "exotic"

I can't help thinking of The Lord of the Rings when I listen to this. Happy Jónsi is the music of Rivendel. Sad Jónsi is the longing that the elves feel for the sea.
